Weight Watchers

Hey there Selah fans.  I’m Amy, and I deal with weight issues.  Anyone who has seen me in concert has heard me talk about my battle, both physical and emotional.  Well, I’ve just started Weight Watchers and I’ve started a blog, so I’d like to invite you to check it out…
“I’m not a very good writer.   I’m not a very dedicated blogger.  I’m good at a couple of things.  Trying to sound as humble as a person can sound when listing the things they excel at, I’m very good at singing, cleaning, organizing and loving others.  That didn’t sound too bad, did it?  Anyways, it seems though, that no matter how good, or even great I am at those few things, the list of things I’m not good at is huge.  It also seems that, the list of things I’m not good at tends to overshadow the good, at least in my mind…. “

Congratulations Amy you are taking the first step of a lifetime of changes. I too have struggled all my life with my weight and will continue until i die. First lesson was to come to love yourself and accept yourself as God has. The enemy will always try to put you back down but with God’s help you can defeat that foe. You are not alone in this journey.

I guess I am looking for someone who is available every day that I can text whenever I am feeling weak! (which is most of the time lol) someone who has the same problem. I need to lose 80 pounds! Oh how I want to be a size 9 again lol but it’s unfair that all the skinny people have no problems but I am doomed to watch every bite and walk three miles a day to get thin lol! This is my God challenge cause He knew I would be this way! Can I do it? Willpower!!!! Let’s do it!!

I totally relate! My mom and I are getting ready to go back to WW for the millionth time. Keep working at it, it’s hard but with Christ all things are possible!

  4. Anna says:

There is a really great bible study called “woman of moderation” by Dee Brestin. It is a biblical look at how we are to view food. It can be done in conjunction with weight watchers. It has really helped me to submit to Christ in the way that I eat and think.

    How is it going Amy?

  6. Camilo Aguilar says:

Well Amy… let me tell you something.. when you have Jesus in your hearth, there is no space to think in other stuffs.. there is no space to the enemy and his bad tricks… that tricks that put you in some circunstances trying to push you away from the one who has gave the live for you… If you have your Savior in your mind and hearth, you won’t need to think in bad things around you… you will think in every blessing Jesus has gave to you. God bless you and don’t worry… Christ is always with you and He knows how to change bad things in good news…

Amy. I too have struggled with issues with my weight since childhood. Almost 6 yrs. ago, at the age of 39, I gave birth to my son. He was 2 1/2 mo. premature and weighed 1 lb. 9 oz.! He’s done amazingly well, although he does have a very rare growth disorder. I blame myself for the complications that lead to his prematurity and I couldn’t bare the thought of being that “OLD, FAT, LAZY woman that can’t take care of or enjoy her child”. I asked God for guidance and he led me to Gastric Bypass surgery. Amy…..it has been the best decision I have ever made for myself! I am a year into my weight loss and I have gone from a size 24 jean to a 12-13! I no longer have diabeties or high blood pressure. I can get down on the floor and chase my son around. The best part is…….I’ll be able to take him to an amusement park and RIDE THE RIDES!!! I couldn’t do that with my daughter when she was little…so I avoided them. Now she battles her weight also. By the way…..I was blessed to see you in concert with Selah soon after you joined the group and shortly after the birth of my son. YOU ARE AMAZING……and you sell yourself short. There is so much more to you than what we see on the outside. You touch the lives of so many people that you will NEVER even know with your beautiful voice. How amazing is that?

  9. Lori says:

Amy – you are beautiful and you have the most amazing voice i have ever heard. It saddens me to imagine your inner struggle. But i am reminded that if a bird is trying to peck it’s way out of its eggshell and a human comes along and helps it, the baby bird will die. I think that life was meant to be hard. It seems that struggle is built in somehow. So don’t beat yourself up and don’t get bitter because you are not perfect. None of us are……

Amy – I’m a man and joined WW on 6/23/09 last summer. I’m down 66 pounds and while it has been a struggle occasionally IT WORKS so “Press On” girl. I heard you in concert at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center’s Celebration Thanksgiving at New Have SDA Church. You all were awesome. Tell Allan he’s a hoot and I love his enthusiasm!

  11. Fred says:

I probably should have used my name instead of yours in the address field in the above post. In any event, I know it can be done because I did it and I have failed at every other diet that I have attempted.

  12. Stephen says:

I’m sorry but I do not believe in WW. Healthy eating and daily physical activity combined with prayerful prayer will do the job. Talk with a RD, make a list of tasty foods and quite simply stay away from red and processed meat and foods. Understand that quite simply the majority of the foods for sale in your local supermarket are not suitable for humman consumption. Understand – good or bad – that people who are mostly vegetarians far outlive those who are big on meat. As far a gastric bypass is concerned – I do not recommend it unless you simply have no alternative.

    Love – really,
    Stephen, EMT

  13. Jon Smith says:

Amy, You are beautiful and I applaud your battle against weight. I struggle with it as well. Diet and exercise can change things for you. I know it is hard. I will pray for you. “Press On” dear. In Christs love, Jon

  14. Alaina says:

Amy, I too have struggled with my weight for most of my life! I got to a point where I was up to 263 pounds and could think of a good reason why I had let myself get there! I too started weight watchers! It was the best move that I could have made. The support is absolutely amazing. I’ve lost 77 lbs and recently got married and have been stuck for a while but am back to the downward slide. I really encourage you to never give up on that goal even if you get stuck. I lost 77 lb in 1 1/2 yrs, its been two yrs and I’m still there. It is a little bit discouraging but I look at it like at least I didn’t gain it all back.

Congratulations on your current weight loss and all the weight you WILL lose in the future! YAY, I’m glad that you have found a program that really does work!

    Alaina Hansel

  15. Mitch says:

Amy, I have struggled all my life with this problem. Congratulations on your starting WW. It does work, it just takes dedication and lots of prayer. This journey has to be a life style change and it will be worth it. I have done the program and lost quiet a bit of weight, unfortunately gained some of it back, but back on the program now.
Good luck and God Bless. YOU CAN DO IT!

  16. Alex says:

well, Amy to me you’re a beautiful as a person and as a singer . if losing some weights makes you more better in praising our Lord Jesus then go for it. Good luck and Jesus bless you.

  17. It is appropriate time to make some plans for the future and it is time to be happy.
I’ve read this post and if I could I want to suggest you few interesting things or suggestions. Maybe you could write next articles referring to this article. I want to read more things about it!

  18. Heya i’m for the primary time here. I found this board and I find It really helpful & it helped me out much. I hope to provide one thing back and aid others like you helped me.

  19. dietary says:

We can transform the varieties even as we like, and it is the best
to decide on those that are high in chlorophyll and dietary
fibers. The is hard to avoid, but is regarded as the dangerous to weight gain.
If you have been listening to diet nonsense on TV, inside the magazines and inside the lunch room, you may be skeptical on
this, but that is science. When in comparison to the
estimates of the various designs of plates, individuals with the larger rims were approximated to get between five and
10 % more food than was actually there. Apples contain pectin that is known to suppress appetite.
